
Stephanie B. Turner
Bio
Ms. Turner oversees an array of pro bono initiatives in areas such as housing, family law, LGBTQ+ rights, domestic violence and racial justice. She organizes in-person and virtual legal clinics that focus on assisting low-income individuals, artists, veterans, small businesses and nonprofits. She also serves as a resource on pro bono legal ethics and risk management.
Ms. Turner’s own practice focuses on assisting low-income individuals in matters regarding government benefits and public assistance. In addition, she has overseen the expansion of the public benefits practice in Skadden’s New York office and manages projects focusing on food stamps and other types of public assistance. Ms. Turner also coordinates the firm’s efforts to provide pro bono legal services and other support to family members of students at the DREAM Charter Schools in East Harlem and The Bronx.
She also serves as a chair of the Public Benefits Working Group of the Law Firm Antiracism Alliance and is a frequent presenter at national conferences and symposiums focused on public benefits and access to justice issues.
Before joining Skadden, Ms. Turner was a litigation associate at another international law firm, where she maintained an active pro bono practice. She is a member of the Association of Pro Bono Counsel and the Pro Bono and Legal Services Committee of the New York City Bar Association. She also serves on the Young Partner Board of The Public Theater.
