Bio
Jimmy Johnston represents U.S. and international clients in a broad range of disputes, including claims for securities fraud, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty and conspiracy. Mr. Johnston has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal courts and in U.S. and international arbitration proceedings.
Representative matters include:
- defending a technology company in a breach of contract action in the Commercial Division of the New York Supreme Court
- defending a director of a public software company in a JAMS arbitration involving claims for breach of contract, fraud and defamation
- representing a foreign aircraft manufacturer in an ICDR arbitration against a U.S. aircraft manufacturer involving the termination of a multibillion-dollar merger agreement
- advising a large pharmaceutical company on its exposure to various class actions and multidistrict litigations involving antitrust, products liability and securities claims
- defending a telecommunications company and certain of its current and former officers in a putative securities class action in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York
Mr. Johnston maintains an active pro bono practice focused primarily on post-conviction relief. He also serves on the board of the Legal Aid Society’s New Leadership Program.
