About Our São Paulo Office
With an office in São Paulo, Skadden has an active, broad-based practice involving business transactions in Brazil. We represent both Brazilian and non-Brazilian clients in international financings, mergers and acquisitions, privatizations, restructurings, structured financings, international tax planning, fund formations, cross-border disputes and other transactions, as well as in litigation and arbitration. The Skadden team for Brazilian matters includes lawyers who are fluent in Portuguese.

Skadden provides legal advice to corporate, governmental and investment banking clients in Brazil on a variety of corporate finance transactions, including initial public offerings, high-yield financings, and other global equity and debt offerings. Our attorneys have served as the lead international counsel in more than 40 international financings for Brazilian issuers. We also advise U.S. and Brazilian clients on acquisitions and strategic investments involving Brazilian entities.
We have extensive experience representing Brazilian companies, as both creditors and debtors, in corporate restructuring matters, including cross-border and out-of-court restructurings, as well as prenegotiated plans of reorganization. In addition, the firm routinely handles the securities and banking aspects of restructuring transactions. Skadden also provides advice on insolvency issues in corporate transactions and in connection with litigation-related matters.
The firm has advised international clients participating in the privatization of various sectors of the Brazilian economy, including several international energy companies in connection with power generation and transmission projects and proposed privatizations. We also have represented international telecommunications clients on various projects in Brazil, including proposed privatizations.
In addition, our attorneys regularly provide legal advice on a variety of matters relating to electric power, natural gas, liquefied natural gas, oil, petrochemicals and other energy sources.
