On June 28, Skadden hosted a webinar discussing the U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ’s) current enforcement approach to China-related matters and recent Chinese regulations relating to cross-border investigations, including those led by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Skadden speakers included Hong Kong litigation partner Steve Kwok and Washington, D.C. government enforcement and white collar crime partners Jessie Liu and Andrew Lawrence and associate Sherry (Qiong) Tao. The panel explored the DOJ’s decision to shift away from the “China Initiative,” new legal issues in connection with conducting cross-border investigations involving China, and best practices for companies to mitigate risks and to navigate between competing demands of regulators in different jurisdictions, among other topics.
