On February 15, Skadden presented a webinar titled “International Business and Human Rights Update: Recent Case Law on Extraterritorial Corporate Liability and Issues Arising in Private Investment Arbitration.” Speakers included Julie Bédard, head of Skadden’s International Litigation and Arbitration Group for the Americas; international litigation and arbitration partners Lea Haber Kuck and Timothy Nelson and counsel Betsy Hellmann; and government enforcement and white collar crime partner Elizabeth Robertson. The panel discussed recent cases in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. that address potential extraterritorial liability for alleged human rights violations and the intersection of investment law and human rights claims.
