Skadden is pleased to announce that Peter Newman has joined the firm’s Corporate Restructuring Group as a partner in our London office. Mr. Newman has over 15 years of experience advising companies, creditors and other stakeholders in connection with cross-border restructurings, distressed acquisitions or financings, and associated disputes. Prior to joining Skadden, he spent his entire career at another highly regarded international law firm. Mr. Newman’s practice will dovetail with Skadden’s leading M&A, private equity, finance, tax and disputes practices.
Skadden’s global Corporate Restructuring Group has been recognized consistently by peers and restructuring professionals as one of the top practices in the world. The firm was named Transatlantic Restructuring Team of the Year in 2019 and 2017 by The American Lawyer, and the practice was ranked in the top tier in IFLR1000 2020.
“We continue to invest in the growth of our European platform through strategic hires. Peter’s experience in financial restructuring, with a particular focus on advising funds on their distressed investments, will deepen our bench in this important area and enhance the service we provide to our clients,” said Scott Simpson, co-head of Skadden’s global transactions practices.
Paul Leake, head of Skadden’s global Corporate Restructuring Group, added, “Peter is a highly regarded restructuring lawyer who will complement and expand our footprint with global corporates, private equity, distressed investors and key financial advisors.”
“This is an exciting opportunity to further develop the European restructuring practice on Skadden’s unparalleled global platform,” said Mr. Newman. “I look forward to joining the team and getting started.”
