Skadden has earned four "Global Legal Awards" from The American Lawyer (July 23).
- Our role in the Swiss Bank Program, in which the firm has been representing nine Swiss banks in disclosing cross-border activities to the U.S. Department of Justice and Swiss Department of Finance, was recognized as the "Global Dispute of the Year, Investigations."
- The $2.8 billion going-private acquisition of Giant Interactive Group, in which Skadden represented China-based private equity firm Hony Capital as part of a buyer consortium, was named "Global M&A Deal of the Year, China."
- Ireland-based Covidien plc's $43 billion acquisition by Medtronic, Inc. was selected as "Global M&A Deal of the Year, Ireland," with Skadden representing Covidien in tax aspects of the deal.
- In the matter recognized as "Global Pro Bono Dispute of the Year," Skadden represented Indian guest workers in a settlement with marine construction firm Signal International. This was one of the largest series of labor trafficking cases in U.S. history.
According to Am Law, the awards honor "the most distinguished international work" since January 2014.
