Skadden secured the dismissal of a putative antitrust class action alleging firm client HarperCollins and five other large book publishers violated the Sherman Act by conspiring with Amazon.com Inc. to monopolize the e-book market and prevent competitors from offering lower prices. On December 6, Judge Jed S. Rakoff of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York ruled that the plaintiffs failed to allege sufficient facts to support their claims.
