On March 28, The National Law Journal named three Skadden partners — Executive Partner Eric J. Friedman, West Coast SEC enforcement and white collar defense practice head Richard Marmaro, and financial institutions regulatory and enforcement practice leader William J. Sweet, Jr. — among the publication’s “Most Influential Lawyers” during the past five years. Skadden was one of only two firms to have three partners honored.

Among other initiatives, the NLJ noted Eric Friedman’s work in attracting top lateral talent to Skadden. Richard Marmaro was acknowledged for his work in defending former Broadcom CFO William Ruehle in the high-profile stock options backdating case brought by the federal government. Bill Sweet was named for his work during the economic downturn, which included his role in the landmark BankUnited acquisition.
