Akzo Nobel to Divest National Starch Business for $1.3B

Skadden is representing Akzo Nobel N.V. on U.S. securities laws and antitrust matters in connection with the sale of its National Starch business to Corn Products International. The $1.3 billion transaction, announced June 21, was approved by the Boards of both Akzo Nobel and Corn Products International and is expected to close at the end of the third quarter of 2010. Akzo Nobel is the largest global paints and coatings company and a major producer of specialty chemicals.
